Primary School

The Junior School Programme inspires the students to do their best work through the development of the keys skills of Communication, Application of number, Information Technology, Teamwork, Improving own learning abilities as well as performance and Problem solving. Thus helps the learners to improve their knowledge and accomplishments in education, work and life.

The number of children in each class does not exceed 24, thus ensuring that each child gets the attention they deserve. The National Curriculum Programme is supported by a space that has natural light, comfortable child-sized areas and a display of their own and others work. The classroom atmosphere reflects encouragement, risk taking, innovation and uniqueness.

The aim is to meet the targets set by the curriculum i.e.: to provide opportunities to promote students’ Academic, Moral, Social and Cultural development.

The curriculum is organized on the basis of the four keys stages.

Key stage 1     Age 5-7          Year Group 1-2
Key stage 2     Age 7-11        Year Group 3-6
Key stage 3     Age 11-14      Year Group 7-9
Key stage 4     Age 14-16      Year Group 10-11

The attainments targets that the students are expected to achieve at the end of each key stage are set out for all subjects.
The subjects for Year 1 are English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Computers, Arabic, and Islamic/Value Education.

The None-core Foundation subjects offered are P.E., Karate, Drama, Music, and Art and Craft.

The subjects at Year 2 are the same as Year 1 with the inclusion of Geography and MFL (Modern Foreign Language). Students can make a choice between French, Urdu, Filipino, and Hindi for MFL.

The students in Year 3 to 6 continue with the subjects done in Year 2. History is an additional subject introduced in Year 3.

The students of Year1 to Year 3 follow a process of regular assessments. Students’ performance is judged based on the attainment targets set for each programme of study. The teachers build a ‘students profile’ based on these assessments.

The Years 4 to 6 have regular assessments and two End of Term examinations.

Parents are provided with regular update of their child’s performance through progress reports and Parent/Teacher conferences.
