OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY

Our Primary phase curriculum, Pristine Pathways, is rooted in the National Curriculum for England and Wales in Key Stages 1 & 2. It is adapted to have a global dimension and be relevant to children living in the UAE, it is well-balanced and carefully planned to enable children to progress smoothly from EYFS in the Foundation Stage to the National Curriculum in Key Stage-1 and continue through Key Stage-2.

Pristine Pathways strives to empower primary pupils with growing competencies for futuristic learning and life by laying a strong foundation in the development of 21st century learning skills. It aims to generate an appetite for learning and discovery, develop capacity to work independently and collaboratively, cultivate strong cultural awareness, and instill the right attitudes to grow as compassionate global citizens.

The curriculum is also enriched through the mastery approach. Mastery is something that we want our pupils to acquire, or rather to continue acquiring throughout their school life. A ‘mastery curriculum’, or ‘mastery approaches’ to teaching, both have the same aim – to scaffold pupils, over time, in acquiring mastery of subjects by constantly challenging their thinking. Technology aided learning and a wide range of enrichment activities provide pupils with opportunities to further develop a deeper understanding of subjects.

Reading is at the heart of the curriculum; it enables students to access the depth and breadth of the curriculum and achieve mastery across all subjects. Students are encouraged to indulge in reading for pleasure which builds enthusiasm and skills for lifelong learning-a skill that opens new worlds, encourages students to be empathetic, widens their understanding of the world and their place in it.

Wellbeing and learning go hand in hand to ensure better learning outcomes and happiness of our pupils. Positive relationships are at the core of our school community, creating an inclusive and supportive culture which allows our students to flourish. We have high expectations of all children with clear boundaries, rights and responsibilities. We see our students as champions and embodiment of their own wellbeing. A well-structured Physical Education Programme, Positive Education and thoughtful implementation of the Moral Education curriculum ensures that students develop lifelong skills of cooperation, happiness, growth-mindset, leading to enhanced personal resilience, mindfulness, and a strong sense of wellbeing of oneself and everyone around. Students establish their emotional and responsible connection with the environment and community which they can carry forward to become competent donors of a sustainable and compassionate society.
